Upload A Web Page

Once you have created a web page, you will need to upload it to your web space on Active Web Hosting's servers so that everyone else on the internet can see it. You do this by using what is called an FTP Program. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. An FTP Program will take a copy of your newly created web page stored on your hard drive and store the copy in your Active Web Hosting web space. The web page file you have on your hard drive will still be there in case you want to edit it later. Remember, any time you edit your web page, you have to upload the file again so that everyone else can see the changes.

To get started, you will want to obtain an FTP Program. Check out our FTP Programs area of our FAQ Pages. There are several you can choose from. The easiest Windows program to learn and use so far has been FileZilla.

Once you have your web page files uploaded to your web space, you can give your friends your domain address and they can see your page! The address will look similar to this:

http://yourdomain.com/

You substitute your actual domain name instead of yourdomain.com to see your new web page.
