Removing WordPress

IMPORTANT: Be sure you have backed up your entire WordPress site before you continue if you want to help prevent data loss. See Backing Up Your Site for instructions on how to do this.

1. Log out of your WordPress site and close your web browser if you haven't already done so.

2. Log into your CGI server account via FTP and delete the WordPress directory (if it is in a sub-directory) and also all your WordPress files and WordPress sub-directories. If you have problems removing all your files, wait approximately 20 minutes and try again. If you still are unable to remove all your files, please let us know so we can look into the issue.

3. Remove any index.html files and restore any index.html files you may have saved as a backup. NOTE: If you changed the index.html file on your (default) Web Hosting account, you will want to restore that one as well.

4. Log into phpMyAdmin with your database name and MySQL Password.

5. Click on your database name on the left.

6. Click on the Structure tab at the top if it's not already selected.

7. At the bottom of the list, click on the Check All button.

8. Click on the With selected drop down box and choose Drop.

9. Click the Yes button on the far right.

10. You can now log out (on the left side, the door and arrow icon; the second icon from the left).

Your WordPress site is now fully removed.
